Signs That Follow Believers

Walking in the Power of Jesus’ Name

The Christian life is intended to be lived with faith and expectation.

This teaching explored the biblical foundation of signs and wonders and the signs Jesus said would follow those who believe.

01

Expectation for Miracles

The message began with an encouragement to expect God’s intervention.

Believers were encouraged not to become comfortable with pain or disappointment, but to approach God with faith and expectation.

02

What Are Signs?

A sign points to something beyond itself.

The teaching used familiar examples such as traffic signs, medical symptoms and changes in seasons before explaining the biblical place of signs.

God is a God of signs, but believers were also reminded that faith remains foundational.

03

Signs That Follow Believers

Mark 16:15-18 identifies signs associated with believers who go and preach the Gospel.

These include casting out demons, speaking in new tongues, protection from deadly things and laying hands on the sick.

The teaching emphasized that believers must be “goers” for these signs to follow.

04

The Power in the Name of Jesus

Signs do not point to the greatness of the believer. They point to Jesus.

The teaching emphasized the authority of the name of Jesus and the need to use that name with faith.

John 14:12-14 was highlighted in connection with believers doing the works of Jesus and greater works.

Signs do not point to the greatness of the believer. They point to Jesus.

05

Examples From the Early Church

The early church provides numerous examples of signs and wonders:

Peter ministered healing. Stephen performed wonders. Philip preached in Samaria with signs accompanying the Gospel. Paul was associated with unusual miracles.

These accounts were presented as examples of the supernatural activity accompanying the proclamation of the Gospel.

06

Living as Representatives of Jesus

Believers are called to represent Jesus and allow their light to shine.

The teaching encouraged consistency in the Word, fellowship, breaking of bread and prayer.

The message concluded with prayer for healing and deliverance and an invitation for people to come forward for prayer and testify of God’s work.
