Discipleship is more than attending church. It is the intentional, consistent, progressive and lifelong process of becoming increasingly like Jesus.
The teaching began with the Great Commission in Matthew 28:18-20, where Jesus commanded His followers to go and make disciples of all nations.
01
What Is a Disciple?
A disciple is a dedicated follower of Christ—a lifelong learner committed to becoming progressively like Jesus in character and stature through the help of the Holy Spirit.
Discipleship involves teaching, instruction, observation, mentoring, correction, character development and kingdom culture.
The goal is Christ being formed in the believer.

The Great Commission: go and make disciples of all nations.
02
Going Is Part of the Command
The word “go” in the Great Commission is not presented as optional advice. Disciples are called to actively carry the message of Jesus throughout their lifetime.
But discipleship is not only about going. It is also about being formed.
The process includes baptism, teaching, observation and action. What we learn must eventually become what we live.
03
Knowledge and Lifestyle
The early church provides a model for discipleship. Acts 2:41-47 describes a community devoted to doctrine, fellowship, breaking of bread and prayer.
These were not simply church activities. They became the culture of the community.
A disciple therefore needs both knowledge and lifestyle. Scripture must shape beliefs, character, relationships and everyday decisions.
What we learn must eventually become what we live.

Becoming Like Jesus
The ultimate goal of discipleship is Christlikeness. Believers are called to walk in love, holiness and the character of Christ while remaining grounded in Scripture.
The teaching also emphasized discernment. Believers should examine what they hear against the Word of God so that Scripture remains the foundation of discipleship.
